Web Developer
August Home Publishing is currently accepting applications for a Web Developer. This individual will be responsible for working with the technology team to maintain and develop web-based content across multiple business units, with a specific emphasis on back-end data management.
The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of web development experience which must include PHP/Python and MYSQL/PostgreSQL. Web development at August Home is in an open-source environment, so prior experience with LAMP environments is required.
Must be able to work effectively in a team environment with little supervision and be able to translate business requirements into a final product. Finally, the successful candidate will be a self-starting, organized person with a great attitude and work ethic, and the ability to work well across a number of business units.

Garden Gate Staff Writer
Garden Gate magazine is in need of a seasoned magazine writer who’s flexible enough to communicate in many forms of media. If you’re passionate about gardening and can inspire experienced gardeners as well as teach beginners in a friendly, conversational way, we want to hear from you!
As a Garden Gate team member, you would work on many editorial products: our bimonthly magazine, special interest books, Web site, how-to videos... and the list is growing!
Responsibilities:
Propose, research, develop and write editorial content
Edit your own and your peers’ work
Work with our design staff to secure art and photography
Some travel is required.
Requirements:
The ability to work on many different projects and platforms at the same time with minimal supervision
Previous garden magazine experience
A strong background in gardening (hands-on experience and/or education)
InDesign skills and digital media experience are helpful

August Home Publishing, owner of the Woodsmith Store, has part-time seasonal Sales Associates positions open in their garden center. Sales Associates are responsible for assisting and providing knowledge to our customers on all plant material. This position will also stock inventory, assist in general maintenance of the garden center such as appropriate watering and general care of all plant material and pitch in with all other duties as needed. The ideal sales candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, horticulture knowledge, and a flexible schedule. Previous retail experience is a plus.

Garden Gate magazine is looking for a part-time editorial intern to spend the rest of the school year gaining valuable experience in the magazine world. This position has the potential to continue into the summer. This unique opportunity involves working in nearly all areas of the creative process, including article research, writing, database work, photography assistance and much more! The first project will be to assist in identifying plants and garden features in our photo archive, so the ideal candidate must be working toward a degree in horticulture and/or horticulture and journalism and be an enthusiastic worker and learner.
